When Paramount revealed Sonic’s designs for the live-action Sonic the Hedgehog movies, a lot of people groaned. One of them is Sonic’s own creator, Yuji Naka, who is quite vocal about how much he disliked live-action Sonic’s designs. However, even he wasn’t able to change the minds of the movie’s producers. And then the trailer dropped, with fans reacting with so much hate that it forced the producers to change their mind and change Sonic’s designs.
As director Jeff Fowler announced the plans for the design change on Twitter, Naka reacted by thanking fans for making their voices heard. In a tweet reply to Fowler’s announcement, the Sonic creator said that Sonic fans are amazing. He thanked them for loving Sonic, and also said that he hopes this new design would be better.
ソニックファンの力は凄いですね。良い方向に向かうと良いですね。ソニックを愛してくれて本当にありがとうございます。

Fans mostly criticized Sonic’s fur, eyes, and teeth, and going as far as saying that the design really looks creepy. And with fans actually being this vocal about the design, the movie’s staff just had to change it. Thanks internet!
Paramount previously announced Sonic the Hedgehog will premiere from November 15, 2019 to November 8, 2019 in the United States.
