Writer Kinoko Nasu said in an interview with 4Gamer posted last Saturday that the story of the hit smartphone game, Fate/Grand Order, will end after Arc 2. He said the plot of the final chapter has already been written and Aniplex has approved it.
“With the plot that’s prepared, we plan to end the game with the end of Arc 2,” Nasu said. “So I plan to do everything I want to do in this Arc. What’s scary is that players will inevitably say they want to continue.” He added that it would be difficult to write what happens “after the end” but that it is possible. He cited Undertale’s different endings as an example.
When asked if players will feel a sense of loss after the game is over, Nasu said that he hopes he can evoke the same sense of loss he felt when he finished Final Fantasy IV, a game he cited as one of his creative influences.
Aniplex released the Fate/Grand Order game in Japan in summer 2015. The game received an English release in the United States and Canada in June 2017. The prologue for Arc 2 launched in the Japanese version of the game at the end of 2017, and the first chapter launched in April 2018.
