Animation Student Shows Off Their Amazing Original Take on Fate/GO: Babylonia Ahead of TV Anime

An animation student’s fan-made Fate/Grand Order animation went viral after it was posted on Thursday. Artist Decopon, who identifies as a current student at a private animation school in their Twitter bio, posted the animation on their Twitter and YouTube accounts. Their posts have accumulated over 100,000 retweets on Twitter and over 50,000 views on YouTube. Take a look at this masterpiece!

The 30-second animation depicts Decopon’s own interpretation on Fate/Grand Order’s seventh chapter, which will be covered in the upcoming Fate/Grand Order Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia TV anime. The clip is filled with impressive action cuts and sword moves, but also some fun character animation details like Mash scooping up the female heroine in her arms and Merlin magicking himself away from danger.

The post has garnered a lot of praise, with some commentators even suggesting that CloverWorks should scout Decopon for the TV anime. The prospect is not entirely out of the realm of possibility, given the number of web animators working on TV anime today. This includes Fate/Apocrypha, the 22nd episode of which featured the talents of Hakuyu Go, Bahi JD, and Nakaya Onsen, among other digital animators. Either way, Decopon’s work indicates that they have a bright future in the world of animation, should they choose to pursue it.

For those curious about how the animation was created, Decopon has also posted the character models and storyboards they used on Twitter, and stated that veteran animator Yasuo Muroi (Bokurano, Dennou Coil), who works as a lecturer at the animation school, offered corrections on their original drawings.

Fate/Grand Order Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia will premiere in October. CloverWorks (DARLING in the FRANXX, PERSONA 5 the Animation) is producing the television anime series.
